The two-volume set is the result of a four-year project. This volume provides an overview of cultures and civilizations from the creation to the Reformation. History and views of history are presented, with a wealth of historical data and information. Care is taken to show the relevance of the Bible to the interpretation of events and personalities. Creation/evolution, Ancient Egypt, Babylon, Greece, Assyria, Rome, the development of Christianity, the Middle Ages, the Far East, Africa, and pre-Columbus America are discussed.
Each chapter begins with a list of projects to do and a list of words and concepts used in the unit. Many maps, photos, and illustrations are given throughout, and the side bars also contain interesting vignettes and points of interest. Credits and an extensive bibliography are included at the end. This one volume could easily be text for two years of study.
These volumes are used in Hewitt's high-school world history course, our ancient history and medieval honors world history courses, and A Literature Approach to Ancient History by Beautiful Feet Books for junior and senior high. The book can be purchased separately or as part of packs (See Related Items below).
