This two-volume set is the result of a four-year project. Volume Two begins with a Christian view of history, followed by the religion and culture of the 16th-century world. European exploration and expansion, the darkening of the western mind, Puritanism, the French Revolution, Protestantism and modern science, the industrial revolution, two world wars, communism, 20th-century technology, and conflict between secular culture and the church are covered.
Each chapter begins with a list of projects to do and a list of words and concepts used in the unit. Many maps, photos, and illustrations are given throughout, and the side bars also contain interesting vignettes and points of interest. Credits and an extensive bibliography are included at the end. This volume could easily be used for a two-year study.
These volumes are used in Hewitt's high-school world history course and our renaissance/reformation honors history and modern honors world history courses.
