After over 20 years of language teaching, I think these are the best grammar books for homeschoolers that I’ve come across. Using common first-year vocabulary, this book divides grammar principles into 22 chapters. The grammar principles are simply explained and then followed by exercises to reinforce the principle. Regardless of which language program you are using, this book will be an easy way to incorporate sufficient grammar study for a beginning student. Topics include
- Numbers, Time, and Dates
- Subject Pronouns
- Negation
- Interrogation and Exclamations
- Irregular Verbs
- Imperative
- Articles and Nouns
- Object, Relative, Stress, and Demonstrative Pronouns
- Prepositions
- Possession
- Adjectives
- Adverbs
- Comparison
- Passé Composé
- Imperfect and Future Tenses
- Conditional
- Reflexive and Subjunctive Verbs
Many of the chapters are similar to Volume 1 (see Related Items belows), but are more complex and expanded. Each chapter has approximately 8 to 9 pages. If the student completes one chapter approximately every two weeks, the text can easily be completed in one year. The inexpensive answer key (see Related Items belows) makes this book easy to use for home-schooled students. Black-and-white Illustrations.
